In Kenya, two children were killed after a wall collapse due to a week long rain followed by a massive flood. Residents in the Coast were left homeless and stranded when the rain destroyed their properties.

8-year-old Mariam died in her village on Tuesday after a collapsing wall fell on her and her brother; her brother only sustained injuries.

"I was at home after coming from a funeral when I was told by a neighbour that a wall had fallen on the childrend and when I went there I found the girl dead; her brother was injured," said Bakari, the victims' uncle. The children's parents were not at home when a local hotel's wall gave way due to extensive rain fall.

On the same day, another child was also killed by a collapsed house in Mombasa.

The torrential rain has left the second largest city in Kenya littered with rotting garbages that has raised health concerns in the East African Country.

Hassan Ali Joho, governor of Mombasa has reported organized a disaster management team to control the floor.

"Due to the ongoing long rains, I have constituted a disaster management committee," said the governor.
