A woman in Hot Springs in the US state of Arkansas has lashed out at a beauty salon after the staff repeatedly denied her a pedicure. She claimed in an interview with NBC News that staffs told her she could not fit in any of the chairs in the beauty salon because she is too big in front of several other customers.
Rachel Bascue said, her mother was also turned down by the same salon just days before she visited to get her nails done.
On her second visit to the salon, Ms Bascue took the courage to record all the conversations she had with the staff members who can be clearly heard discriminating against her due to her weight.
"The chair under 250. You cannot fit," one of the staff members who is a male told her in view of other customers.
"I've tried to tell you too many times. It's not fit for you. It's dangerous," said another staff member.
"It is for your own benefit."
Another staff member then said to Ms Bascue it was for her own safety although she has visited the salon 3 times in less than 3 months to get her nails done, she was turned down in all 3 attempts.
The woman told NBC she was drastically humiliated in front of other customers, she has probably hinder her self-esteem.
"I have been talked about and made fun of, but this is the first time I was made to feel like a freak," she said.
