Esther Jubril Badmos and Modupe Idowu were detained for having a minor argument with a staff after he attempted to attack one of the women.
Two British holidaymakers have been detained in China for more than eight weeks after a row in a shoe shop.
Modupe Idowu and Esther Jubril Badmos, both 50, were thrown in a detention centre in June after shop staff attacked Mrs Badmos when she tried to alter her order.
Ms Idowu was put in a cell with six others with a plank for a bed. Her injured friend was in the centre’s hospital.
After 38 days they were released but are still trapped in southern city Ghuangzhou as their visas have expired and they cannot get another until police prove the charges have been dropped.
A £20,000 claim for damages by the shop owner was settled for £4,500.
Two children of Ms Idowu, of Islington, North London, went out to find her.
Daughter Sarah Murray said: “She was so frail. She lost a couple of stone as she barely ate.”
The Foreign Office said it was helping her and Mrs Badmos, of North London.
