"There are energy sources out there that are greater than the food calories you are putting in your body.

Calories come from photons and light and vibrations and wind. Anything can feed if your energy centres are open." said Lanerolle during an interview on US TV show, Taboo.

The man who went without food for 5 years, succumbed to have consuming up to seven 500-calorie meals in the last 10 months, but said they made him uncomfortable and feel ill most of the time.

"In this consciousness, when I do eat food, it makes me feel very tired. And my alertness goes away when I eat now", the man was heard saying during the show.

At age 16, the man was already a drug addict.

He won a Gold mendal at the Junior National Level Championship for Rifle Shooting in 1995, had won a number of boxing mendals, he's an Executive Advisor to the Ministry of Social Services in Sri Lanka and have also become a successful entrepreneur.

The man was also credited to be the only person to have participated in a marathon having only consumed water for 3 months.

He said he had accomplished all this due to the U-turn he made in his life to become a breatharian.

5 years ago he came across books which stipulated some people have gone without food for 6 years and they didn't drink water for 40 days and 40 nights.

He is also believed when a guru said, cancer, diabetes and heart disease are caused by food.

One of his main motives is to teach people how to successfully become breatharians, but critics have slammed his claims since many people have lost their lives trying to adopt the breatharian lifestyle
