A Millionaire In The UK Builds Private Island

One wealthy UK landowner decided to save himself the hassle and instead had his own private island built in the middle of a landlocked country estate in Cambridgeshire - north of London and 80km away from the nearest beach.

The island was built from scratch in the middle of a lake on the 60-acre estate by Master Wishmakers, a company that specialises in building fantastical creations, typically children's playhouses and rooms, for wealthy clients.

Man Dies After He Wins Beer Competition

A man has died after downing six litres of beer in a drinking competition at a beer festival in Spain.

Joaquin Alcaraz Garcia started vomiting in his chair moments after winning the July 18 competition, in which contestants had to drink as many litre glasses of beer as they could in 20 minutes.

"He had drunk six litres of beer, and when he won he lifted the trophy" witness Antonia Alcaraz told the Spanish newspaper Hoy.

State Of Origin: Naked Pitch Intruder Charged With Obscene and Wilful Exposure

A 33-year-old man known as Wati Holmwood has been charged by the New South Wales (NSW) Police for running naked in the last minute of the State of Origin game between New South Wales and Queensland last night. 

Holmwood made it almost half of the field before he was toppled down by security guards and police officers on the field.

Cory Monteith: Glee Star Died Of Fatal Heroin And Alcohol Overdose, Canadian Coroner Say

Glee actor Cory Monteith, who had struggled for years with substance abuse and once said he was lucky to be alive, died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol, the British Columbia coroner's office says.

"There is no evidence to suggest Mr Monteith's death was anything other than a most tragic accident," the office said in a statement on Tuesday.

President Robert Mugabe kick-started his election campaign on Thursday exuding confidence that Zimbabweans will vote to extend his 33-year rule when they go to the ballot box in three weeks' time.
"On the 31st of this month the whole country will vote Zanu-PF back into government," 89-year-old Mugabe said in an hour-long speech to about 6 000 supporters in Chiweshe, 120km north of the capital Harare.
